SUMMARY:ASIST Suicide Intervention Training
DESCRIPTION:Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training — known as ASIST
  — will be held this July in Elko. The training is presented by the Neva
 da Office of Suicide Prevention in partnership with Zero Suicides Elko Cou
 nty and Nevada Health Centers\, and is open to anyone in the community at 
 no cost. Registration is required.\nASIST is a two-day intensive\, interac
 tive course designed to help participants recognize when someone may be at
  risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
  It covers five learning areas: preparing\, connecting\, understanding\, a
 ssisting\, and networking — equipping participants to work with someone 
 in crisis to develop a concrete safety plan. The training is appropriate f
 or a wide range of participants\, from healthcare professionals and educat
 ors to community volunteers and concerned neighbors.
